Terms of use

Last updated 19 August 2026. These terms cover the Tenon MCP server at https://tenon.alanlong.design/mcp, this website, and any Tenon plugin or listing that points at them.

What Tenon is

Tenon is a free service that an AI assistant you control can call to check its reading of a job advert against a fixed contract, score how a set of statements about a person fits that reading, and check work eligibility and simple gates such as a salary floor. Tenon itself contains no AI model. All reading, writing and judgement is done by your assistant; Tenon validates and computes.

Who provides it

Alan Long, an individual in the United Kingdom (hello@alanlong.design). Tenon is provided as-is, free of charge, as a personal project. It is not affiliated with Anthropic, OpenAI, or any employer whose advert you run through it.

Using it

Who it is for

Tenon is for job-seekers assessing their own fit, or helping a friend assess theirs. It is not for employers, recruiters or agencies. Using Tenon to screen, rank or decide about other people, as an employer or an agency or on behalf of one, is not permitted. If you do that anyway, you are using Tenon for something it was not made for, and you, not Alan, are responsible for what follows, including any law that applies to automated tools in hiring where you are.

What Tenon's results are

A Tenon result is a check on your assistant's work plus some arithmetic over numbers your assistant chose. It is not advice about whether to apply for a job, not a prediction of an employer's decision, and not a legal determination of your right to work anywhere. Eligibility results in particular are a reading of the advert's own words against the countries you say you can work in; verify anything that matters with the employer or an adviser.

Availability and changes

Tenon may change, pause, or stop at any time, with or without notice. Tool names, inputs and outputs are versioned; breaking changes will change the version, and unknown versions are refused rather than guessed at. There is no service level and no support obligation, though questions to the address above are welcome.

Liability

Tenon is free and provided as-is, without warranty that it is accurate, available, or fit for any particular purpose. Alan Long is not liable for loss of earnings, loss of an opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of Tenon or from decisions made on the strength of its results, because those decisions are yours and Tenon is one input to them. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under the law of England and Wales, and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute, without prejudice to any right you have as a consumer to bring a claim in your home country's courts.
